Americans and Fear on Halloween 2021
Happy Halloween! Can I say that?
Not a Happy Halloween? What the statistics say.
Still Americans have trouble being upbeat and positive, Jesus followers included.
Not even in “the good old days.”
We, today, are so frightened or so angry. . .
No facts and no truth will change Americans’ sense of fear.. . .
Examples. . .
How can God’s truth of the Bible, help your FEELINGS of fear?
Some suggestions. . .
1. Shift our focus.
Almost ALL American mental health professionals
suggest dropping social media and the news.
Pastor knows why.
2. (Pastor) Fred Rogers of “Mister Rogers Neighborhood”: Don’t look at the disasters, look for the helpers. The letter of Peter says “cast all of your cares on the Lord. . .why? (1 Peter 5:7)
That old song, “Lookin’ for love in all the wrong places”. . . Many Christians have been looking for good news in the wrong places.
3. Look harder. . .
4. Jesus wanted the Pharisees to ponder the truths of God’s word. (Matthew 9:13)
The Bible commands, often on the lips of angels,
”do not be afraid”
Jesus said “do not be afraid” directly seven times.
The Apostles said it. . .
Go and learn what it means:
“do not be afraid” (Matthew 28:10, Luke 12:4,
John 14:27, Acts 27:24, Hebrews 13:6,
Revelation 1:17, Revelation 2:10)
Matthew 28:10: Do not be alarmed and afraid; . . .
there they will see Me.
Where can you see Jesus today?
Where will you look for Jesus this week?
Go and learn what it means
Romans 8:28,
Hebrews 13:6,
1 John 4:18,
or this translation;
“full-grown complete love throws fear out. . .”
Go and learn what this means:. John 14:1.
Isn’t Jesus asking you and me?
“Do you trust me?”
“Do you trust me with your life?”
Go and learn what this means. . . Amen.
