The Holy Spirit: God is here to help you all
Max Lucado: The Holy Spirit relationship is like a marriage. (The closest human experience.)
Intimate knowledge develops over time.
The Lord’s Holy Spirit is wanting to be in touch with us each in many ways. Notice all the different ways that we can attend to the Holy Spirit—ways to be OPEN TO the Holy Spirit. Max Lucado: “sensitivity.”
Remember: spiritual reality is not physical reality.
“Those who have eyes LET THEM SEE.”
[See Matthew 13:16ff, Luke 10:23 ff.;
Jesus asks the disciples in Mark 8:18.]
Physical eye organs are not sufficient.
The Holy Spirit helps us bridge the gap between
physical reality and spiritual reality.
King David completely missed the Holy Spirit’s
leading. (2 Samuel 11: VERSE 2)
The Bible reported no payer of David in that moment.
It will require the Holy Spirit speaking through
Nathan the Prophet to get King David to see the error of his ways, even though David has eyes. (2 Samuel 12:1-13)
Remember that the Holy Spirit is a person.
One can resist the Holy Spirit (Acts 7:51).
Pastor Beltz: we are working to make the Holy Spirit
the dominant influence in our life.
It takes TIME for us to be more sensitive TO
the Holy Spirit. . . Lord Jesus’ words:
“the Spirit blows where it will.” (John 3:8)
The Holy Spirit is free.
Pastor and the Lord’s Prayer:
Pastor may have said the Lord’s prayer wrong,
but Pastor DID the Lord’s prayer correctly and
forgave his daughter.
Help Is Here by Max Lucado.
God leads us. God does more than correct us;
God directs us. Keep us from wrong?
God wants to lead us in His paths, to walk
the Jesus way—for OUR benefit.
Max Lucado: 100+ references to the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit can be free-wheeling.
For the Holy Spirit there is no “box.”
Doves? Winds? Fire?
No need to fear the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is help. . .a helper. . .for you. . .
for the church. The Holy Spirit is not under our
control but the Holy Spirit IS dedicated to God’s will.
The Holy Spirit is an INWARD experience.
David’s song, Psalm 51, “willing spirit”
“restore me”. . .”don’t take your Holy Spirit
from me” Psalm 51:11.
Jesus said: “But you will receive power when
the Holy Spirit comes on you. . .” (Acts 1:3)
1 Thessalonians 1:5, the Apostle Paul:
(the) gospel came to you not only in word,
but also in power and in the Holy Spirit
Power for the long run!
There is something to relationships and power as there is with the power of the Holy Spirit and our relationship TO the Holy Spirit. Amen.
