[Peace is in the Bible.]
[News item]
The Successful Peaceful Protest Act was introduced
in Congress a week ago Friday by a Hoosier Congressman,
Jim Banks. (Third District)
Great idea. Is it that simple? Peace is certainly needed:
Indianapolis. Or the unpeaceful protests in America.
Recently a clash between police and reporters!
Pastor preached on love and acceptance last June.
Maybe that is too advanced challenge.
Let’s just try living in peace with our neighbor.
Peace is a good Bible word.
God never intended Americans to live like this.
A Bible promise: peace!
(Jeremiah 33:6, Isaiah 32:17-18)
Pastor will be crude: even if we don’t want peace—
our God wants peace for us!
Pastor noticed: peace (NIV 249, (KJV) 420.
See Exodus 22:21, Leviticus 19:33, Leviticus 19:34,
Deuteronomy 10:18, Deuteronomy 27:19
So Pastor asks: DOES GOD want peace for us?
Prince of Peace? See angel words in Luke 2:11-14.
DCC’s affirmation of faith: Titus 3:3-8.
Why did we need God’s mercy?
Our behavior. . .punishable behavior.
Our lives CAN be turned around.
Whether we want peace or not, God is giving us a
chance for peace. Because the Savior has come,
we won’t have to pay for all the mayhem.
WE MAY HAVE PEACE with GOD..
It is good news. But do we want it?
(It is hard for some. See Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.)
There real life examples. Some Bible examples.
Saul/Paul in the book of Acts.

1 Timothy 2:2-8
2 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers,
intercession and thanksgiving be made
for all people—
2 for kings and all those in authority,
that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all
godliness and holiness.
3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior,
4 who wants all people to be saved and to come
to a knowledge of the truth. . . .
8 Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray,
lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.
This is what the Apostle wants!
Peace is possible. We can live in peace.
Thanks be to God, because of and through
our Lord, our Savior, Jesus. Amen.
