Blessings, Part 2
Last time we learned. . .
--the word bless or blessing is both
a verb and a noun.
The Bible uses more than one word to
say blessed and blessing and in two
different languages.
It is no surprise if many misuse the words.
The question was asked:
Is the blessed life the same thing as
the successful life?
Blessings are gifts. Blessings flow from
God’s goodness, not our behavior.
(Matthew 5:45)
Funny, but many don’t like that.
It means that God is uncontrollable.
God will be kind and God is KIND
whether we do right or not.
So, blessings are God’s favor.
(The emphasis is on God.)
We may also bless God (the other meaning
of the word bless.
“to bless” ; to worship, praise, glorify God.
We were created to glorify God.
From The Purpose Driven Life
There are several ways to glorify God.
We bring glory to God by loving others.
(1 John 3:14, Romans 15:7, John13:34-35)
We bring God glory by becoming like
Christ (2 Corinthians 3:18, Philippians 1:11
John 15:8).
We bring God glory by serving others with
our gifts. (1 Peter 4:10-11, 2 Corinthians 8:19)
We glorify God telling others about God
in Christ (2 Corinthians 8:19).
Really, just talk about yourself—
how your life with Jesus is better with Jesus
than without.
This a convenient way to talk about how we can
glorify God:
We glorify God when we become a blessing to others.
(Psalm 37:26, 1 Peter 3: 1 Peter 3:9, John 15:8)

We are not good people but Jesus
makes us do good things.
Jesus MAKES us into a blessing.
