It Really is New Life (John 11:17-27)
Gary McManus, 04/15/2018Part of the New Life series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
April 15, 2018, Third Sunday of Easter, John 11:17-27
What does the resurrection mean for you?
More than you think!
Descriptions of Heaven should give us pause.
(Revelation 21:21, also Revelation 21:18).
The resurrection means life.
Resuscitation is not restoration.
Restoration is not resurrection.
Resuscitation (hospitals today) is not restoration.
Restoration (Lazarus) is not resurrection (Jesus).
In EVERY CASE of Jesus raising the dead,
people are alive again WHOLE.
So, now, what is life/new life?
Jesus and the Sadducees (Matthew 22:29
NEW life (Acts 5:20, Romans 6:4, 2 Corinthians 3:6)
Life-- being led by the Spirit is DIFFERENT. . .
(John 10:10)
Where do you go swimming?
Spiritual life is deep. (I Corinthians 2:10, Romans 8:26)
Jesus offers life in DEPTH.
Others have lived deeper with Jesus. . .
Louis Zamperini is an example.
Don't Give Up, Don't Give In:
Lessons from an Extraordinary Life
by Louis Zamperini and David Rensin
Notice because Americans are mesmerized by
the dramatic.
But not all changes appear dramatic.
Johnny Cash is another example.
Jesus said, I have come that you may have life
and have it abundantly.
The prophet Amos declared,
Seek God and live.
Also Habakkuk 2:4
No matter how good or how bad one
thinks their life is right now. . .
JESUS said it can be better with Jesus
Revelation 21:5. Amen
