Today's topic: telling lies.
Our Lord Jesus only makes ONE
reference to lies in all the Gospel record. . .
John 8:44.
In talking with the Pharisees,
Jesus' authority and kinship came up. . .
In our country today we are all having some
trouble with the truth.
The internet. . .
Television. . .
But the Bible reminds us that even with the truth,
Jesus Christ, standing theresome would not accept
it.
What is a lie?
A lie is a statement or utterance in order to speak
falsely / or utter untruth knowingly /, as with intent
to deceive. / to express what is false.
Things get murky quickly.
What about impressions?
Pastor? He is a mixed bag.
Hypocrisy is a word from the theater.
Actors wore masks. If anyone thinks they ARE
the mask they wearthat is hypocrisy.
Jesus reprimands some of the Pharisees. . .
See Matthew 23:27 (KJV)
Miracle on 34th Street film
Is Pastor a Christian?
Lord, I want to be a Christian ina my heart. . .
Hymn No. 338
Pastor can ACT like a Christian. . .
Are we graduates or students?
Disciple = learner = student
Christian was not a name the early church
gave themselves. (Acts 11:26)
Followers of Jesus = The Way
(See Acts 9:2, Acts 22:4, Acts 24:22)
Is Pastor a runner?
The closer to Jesus we can make ourselves,
the closer to the truth we will be.
But we enjoy lies.
Speak the truth in love. Ephesians 4:15
