God Got It Done and It Wasn't Easy (Luke 2:4-7)

December 25, 2022 Christmas Day
Luke 2:4-7
God did it. God got it done. The Savior, the Messiah,
promised hundreds of years before Jesus’ birth. . .
came to us and for us. It happened just the way that it needed to happen. It happened just as the Lord God, our Heavenly Father planned for it to happen.
Jesus was born. Mary had a baby. Mary’s baby was holy. The baby, Jesus, born, was human and was God.
--Joseph’s son by adoption.
--a descendant of King David. (Isaiah 11:1)
--Jesus was born in Bethlehem (Matthew 2:5-6, Micah 5:2)
Everything the angels said, did happen.
This was not easy for God to pull off. Why?
Because God used people like us.
Examples:
--Zechariah (Luke 1:18)
--Joseph (Matthew 1:19)
--Mary (Luke 1:34)
None were on board with God’s plan, not fully.
Joseph, we are told, even had his own plan.
Mary asked, not about God or God’s plan, but about herself.
Pastor has a renewed hope because of our God at work with people for God to save God’s creation. God got it done so long ago.
God sent us a Savior. God doesn’t need a Savior, we do. God has a plan to save us. God’s plan is possible with people, even with people like you and me. So, where are you with God’s plans?
God’s plan, our Savior, is what we celebrate at Christmas. Amen.
