Just a Touch of Jesus (Luke 8:42-48)
Gary McManus, 02/28/2021Part of the Jesus Came to Restore series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
February 28, 2021 The Second Sunday in Lent Luke 8:42b-48
We have been through this scripture.
Yet, this woman’s faith is rather astounding.
We are given intimate details on this lady,
but no one gives us her name.
Hemorrhage, flow, discharge. . .
of ANY KIND. See Leviticus 15.
So, you are sick AND unclean!
The woman has to self-isolate.
Remember that. The woman came up behind Jesus.
Think about what was going through this woman’s mind and heart.
The woman believed that God wanted to heal HER.
. . .. . .and she was healed.
Pastor can’t claim that for himself even after one hour of pain.
“Who touched me”?
Jesus already knew.
Everyone else needed to know, including the woman herself.
(Luke 8:47)
Saying things out loud helps us.
Jesus asked, “Who touched me?”
Jesus already knew because this touch was different.
It was a touch of faith.
Please don’t make this sermon about you.
This sermon is about God.
The question is not faith-healing.
The question is, what do YOU believe about God?
Even after twelve years. . .the woman believed.
Does God love us?
CAN God love us even in Jesus?
This isn’t an open debate.
God decided a long time ago.
Jesus came to the bleeding. . .
Jesus said, “Go in peace.” Amen.
