Do What Jesus Instructs (Mark 2:1-12)
Gary McManus, 09/20/2020Part of the Sermons for a Pandemic series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
Rev. Tim Schenck wrote of Coach Spencer whose
approach was often, “Walk it off!”

Surely you know, “walk it off” is no way to take
care of athletes under your supervision.
Yet, some adopt Coach Spencer’s advice.
There is a spiritual equivalent to “walk it off.”
When life hands you gators,. . .
you make Gatorade. How?
“First of all PRAY, (1 Timothy 2:1)
(and don’t stop praying)
but there is more, much more that we can DO
as followers of Jesus.
Jesus gave instructions often (Mark 2: 11, Luke 17:14, John 9:7, Mark 10:51, See Mark 10:36).
True story: a faithful young woman with headaches.
Look at all she had to do!
AND God WAS with her.
Jesus said to the paralyzed man,
“Son, your sins are forgiven.” Think about it.
THAT is a stretch to accept that!
(Luke 1:38, Mary’s words)
Are you concerned for someone? TELL them!
Do something for them!
Healing is a process. (And sometimes, healing
does not happen to faithful people (2 Corinthians 12:8-9).
Jesus as a coach?
True report from Pastor Paul Van Noy,
Candlelight Christian Fellowship.
But the Bible states: John 9:7
Jesus told that blind man,
“Go wash in the Pool of Siloam”
So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.
If Jesus says, “Jump!”
Even if we’re crippled, you and I want to ask,
“How high?”
If Jesus says go wash. . .
Pastor suggests we RUN as fast as we can. . .
. . .NOT, walk it off. . .
If we have to make Gatorade. .
let’s roll up our sleeves and do whatever Jesus
wants us to do to get through this.
Your sins ARE forgiven in and through Jesus Christ,
our Lord.
Now, Jesus further states: “get up, take your mat and go. . .” Amen.
