Is God Offended? (Luke 16:10-15)

Luke 16:10-15
How offended is God by my sin/sins?
The word abomination: (8:NIV), (KJV:142)
(NIV) Jesus said, “. . .What people value highly
is detestable in God’s sight.”
We want to remind ourselves that God is God
and we are not. Therefore, sin is sin.
We don’t think that way. . .we weigh sin.
Yet, we have all been NOT doing God’s will.
Whenever we offend an INFINITE GOD,
we have offended GOD INFINTELY.
Four Hebrew words are sometimes translated
as abomination: (KJV:142 times)
--to be abhorred
--a detestation (abominable, different word in Hebrew,
23 times)
--detestable thing (similar word to above, usually
referring to objects like idols, or objects referring
to heathen deities)
--a foul thing; --a technical term –at least four times
--by which is literally meant rotting flesh.
What DOES Habakkuk 1:13 really say?

god-cannot-look-upon-sin/
The statement in Habakkuk is that God cannot
t look upon sin and approve it.
The main point of today’s message is not even how
siniful we can be or how offended God can be by
our actions. . .the real point is that God loves us
and God loved us while we were in sin.
God ‘s son Jesus died WHILE we were in our sins. . .
Romans 5:8
AND our God has no intention of leaving us
in the darkness, so God sent his son into the
world to save the world (John 3:17)
God is going to bring a great light.(Isaiah 9:2).
Those who cannot see. . .will be able to see.. . .
the blind WILL be given sight.
(Isaiah 61, Matthew 4:16, Luke 4:18, Matthew 9:27ff,
Matthew 11:5, Matthew 15:31, Mark 8:22-25,
Mark 10:46ff., Luke 7:21-22, John 9:1-41)
And our sight and our vision will be used for God’s glory.
So why does it matter? In brief: God did it FOR us
and as an example.
Some comments from Calvary Chapel South Bay,
Jeff Gill
Why does God continue to love us despite our
depravity and sinfulness?
Because the Lord Almighty loves us unconditionally.
It’s agape love. (1 Corinthians 13) Amen.
