God's Word 2 John 5-8
In these brief verses, a statement of the problem
and a statement of the solution to that problem.
The problem, really, is love.
The problem is lov-ING.
(See Matthew 5:43-48)
The Apostles Paul and Peter
are in agreement. . .
Romans 12:17, 1 Peter 3:9
The problem as John outlines it: 1 John 2:9-11.
Believers difficult to love.
[Hint: the teachings and the results of the
teachings.]
? What did they do that was so bad?
The Apostle states: love had flesh and
love HAS flesh. Love lives in the world.
Love does things in the world.
(1 John3)
The Apostle reflects on the basis
of the evil that some are facing.
(1 John 3:9)
The Apostle does not ask the believers
to sort themselves or others into groups!
We do not have to decide those things.
The Apostle DOES REMIND US:
“walk in love.”
Walk—the picture of action. . .walk in love
love in action!
This is nothing NEW.
Yes, it is hard to love.
Yes, it is hard to continue to love.
Yet, (2 John) “whoever continues in
the teaching has both the Father and the Son.”
Your efforts. . .your willingness, your desire
to WALK in love brings the Father and the Son
to help you through the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
