Matthew 1:1-2:12

find them bringing fresh insights and deeper
meaning to what Matthew is telling us.

They were foreigners by place—
not from around here.
--They were foreigners by occupation
--They were foreigners in this situation
--They were foreigners by faith. . .PAGANS
the gold, the frankincense and the myrrh:

The Wise Men brought gifts and offered them
to Jesus.
Matthew is sure to mention
--the wise men tell us, "We have seen His star."
--the wise men tell us, "We have come
to worship him."
--they opened their treasure boxes and
OFFERED. . .
They brought, maybe, the most valuable fruit
of their lands—maybe the most fabulous
objects in the world and pledged their loyalty
with gold, frankincense and myrrh.
The gifts are a part of worshiping, are they not?
Amen.
