Receive the Love of God (Matthew 22:34-40)

Matthew 22:34-40
Two great events in the history
of God’s love for this world:
Creation and Jesus.
Okay, God loves us. . .we are all set.
Are we? Not exactly.
God loves us demonstrated in Jesus Christ.
Have we RECEIVED that love?
Are we ABIDING in that love?
Relationships, even divine relationships
take AT LEAST two persons.
In this case: God and you.
Jesus chided many of the Pharisees
for making it too hard for people to
have a relationship with God.
(see Matthew 23: 13-34)
“Love God and do what you like.”
What do you think?
If the Lord God really IS the most
important person in your life. .
SO, how come American Christians
are known as rule givers, rule makers,
and gate keepers?
Why are we not known as lovers---
LIVING a life loving God and our neighbor. . .
Hmmmm?
Jesus went on to say to the leadership
(John 5: 39—44)
If you would relate to me and not just
to the Bible you would have the life
you seek. . .
Jesus is saying, you keep the rules YOU
claim are important and then pat each
other on the back. . .
maybe you should ask the Heavenly
Father what the Father thinks?
Jesus would also say to the leadership:
Matthew 23:23
“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees,
. . .
Justice, mercy, faithfulness. . .those are all words
of relationship, aren’t they?
Having Jesus right in front of you, isn’t enough.
Jesus said, receive me.
Look at the people who DID receive Jesus.
You and I have a relationship with God whom you
love with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind. . .
at least you CAN!
Receive the Love of God. Amen
