Celebrate the Protestant Reformation!
This is the 500th Anniversary of the PROTEST
that Martin Luther with others began.
Martin Luther’s condemned teaching was that
we should only teach the Bible.
The Bible should be the authority—not the church.
Martin Luther paved the way for all of us to read
The Bible. But it would be another 100 years after
Martin Luther before we could get an English Bible.
DCC is also celebrating 1 sermon = 1,000 downloads.
Praise the Lord!
Remember, it isn’t the Pastor.
People want to hear God’s Word.
Today we look at the Bible and the church.
The Bible and this church--YOUR CHURCH.
Any church today that continues to make the
Bible the authority for faith and teaching
continues the Protestant heritage.
The authority for the church IS the BIBLE.
If the Bible is NOT the authority, PEOPLE
will become the authority.
There are MANY BENEFITS for ANY CHURCH
that will continue to make the Bible its authority
for faith and teaching.
Remember 2 Timothy 3:16 and 2 Thessalonians 2:15!
THIS church, when it started, had no preacher,
it had Bibles!
Some of you here today are descendants of those
pioneer families to whom we ALL are grateful.
The FIRST churches (of the Apostles) formed
communities of faith around the TEACHING
OF THE APOSTLES ABOUT JESUS.
THE CHURCH is still communities of faith around
the TEACHING OF THE APOSTLES ABOUT JESUS.
This is what ANY church of Jesus STILL is.
Not all churches in America are made up of people
like you. And even if we are not faithful to God’s
Word, God’s Word is still heard here!
The Bible in the church will correct any church
that gets off course.(Revelation chapters 1-3,
and Galatians 5:7)
This church’s constitution states that we are
committed to the principals of the Bible as
the inspired word of God.
The Bible as the authority in the church
BENEFITS you, the church. Make sure the
Bible remains the authority in YOUR church.
Amen
