Restoration for You (Mark 3:1-6)
Gary McManus, 03/22/2015Part of the Jesus Came to Restore series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
The Bible = God’s instruction book. . .
but much more.
The Bible = God’s agenda book. . .
The Bible tells us what God is doing.
God intends to SAVE this world.
(1 Timothy 2:4) God intends RESTORATION.
(Acts 3:18-21, 1 Peter 5:10, Mark 3:5, Galatians 6:1).
Notice:
Jesus restored the man’s hand.
Jesus went to worship.
Ask, seek, knock. . .
(Matthew 7:7-12)
Last week, Kohn 5, the man Jesus healed
Jesus later found in worship at the Temple!
In today’s Bible verse, Jesus found a man
in worship and healed him.
This is, however, the FIFTH conflict
that Jesus had with Jewish authorities:
--forgiving sins (Mark 2:1-12)
--calling a tax collector as a disciple (Mark 2:13-17)
--questions on fasting (Mark 2:18-22)
--working on the Sabbath (Mark 2:23-28)
--here, healing on the Sabbath
Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath. Jesus IS the authority
The man was in worship but could not have
expected to be healed there.
The man didn’t go to worship in order to
be healed. But he WAS healed.
This man WAS healed that day
when JESUS walked into the synagogue.
His hand was restored. (Another
restoration in ch 8, vs 25)
”We are either in the process of resisting God’s
truth or in the proecess of being shaped and
molded by His truth.” -- Pastor Charles Stanley
.”I am making all things new.”
--Revelation 21:5
Our God is the God of the surprise ending.
WE don’t decide the ending—God
in Christ decides the ending.
WE are either MOVING with what God is doing
or we are resisting what God is doing. (John 5:17)
“God is ready and eager to heal you and restore you.”
--Victor Marx
Jesus in Luke 3 quoting Isaiah 61. . .
Our God in Christ isn’t just TALKING about restoration,
our God in Christ is WORKING restoration.
