Get Connected (Acts 17:16-32)
Gary McManus, 07/27/2014Part of the Life With Jesus is Better series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
Today, we want to talk about reaching people with the gospel
of Jesus Christ.
Let’s talk about animals. Sheep. (Luke 15:4-7)
Notice: sheep are a valuable commodity
Jesus says “. . .doesn’t the shepherd GO AFTER
the lost sheep until he finds it?”
This finally brings us to today’s scripture (vs. 17).
Are you a little uncomfortable about other people’s lives?
A lost sheep IS in danger.
Pastor is ONE of the shepherds. And what about the
unconnected sheep?
The Apostle Paul went to the sheep right where they were.
. . .WHOEVER showed up THAT day.
Pastor is ONE of the shepherds because:
--you know where the lost sheep are.
(the unconnected sheep)
-- sheep are wary of strangers.
Pastor is a stranger, you are not.
Results:
--not everyone will want to hear
--some will want to hear more
--some will become followers of Jesus Christ
Why? Because of you. Like Paul, you go to them.
You speak plainly to them in a way they understand.
(2 Corinthians 4:2)
You have compassion for them. Amen.
(Matthew 14:14, Matthew 15:32, Matthew 20:34, 2 Corinthians 1:3)
