Hell Was Not Made For You (Matthew 25:31-46)
Gary McManus, 03/09/2014Part of the Why Hell? series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
Some of the truths we’ve reviewed
this year:
There are powers at work in the world;
powers for evil and powers for good
The power that Jesus brings is the power of
the Kingdom of God and that power
is GREATER than the power of Beelzebul.
(Matthew 12:22-29)
Bringing the Kingdom of God was proclaiming
and healing [Luke 10:19 ]
The truth behind whatever NAME we give
this suffering is this. . .
It is a power opposed to God.
Just as there is a fight for the good of your body.
there is a spiritual battle for the good of your soul.
We call the evil force Satan.
But Jesus came to UNDO the works of Satan.
( 1 John 3:8)
Jesus declared that it was TODAY
Still today there are those who find spiritual relief
say that they feel liberated, freed, healed, released.
[Luke 10:9, 19 ]
Jesus said, I have given you authority . . .
to overcome all the power of the enemy.
Here at DCC we are going to talk about Hell
this season.
We will do so for several reasons:
1.Jesus came to destroy the works of Satan.
2. God intended your inheritance for us,
not Hell. (Matthew 25)
3. Another Pastor once said, “Jesus talks more about
hell than any person in the New Testament.”
Actually. . .
4. Jesus is the ONLY person in the Gospels who talks
about hell . . .and WE SHOULDN’T ?
There is a lot of misunderstanding about Hell.
Note: Do you have to believe in Hell to receive salvation?
NO. the Bible doesn’t say that.(John 3:16, John 20:31, 1 John 3:23) But salvation is really the only reason to talk about hell.
Jesus came so that WE wouldn’t go to hell.
Jesus came to get us out of darkness and into the light.
This is where we see more clearly the love of God.
Jesus paid for that work with his life.
Jesus came and transferred people to the Kingdom.
(Colossians 1:13)
Jesus redeemed people. Jesus released those in bondage.
(1 Peter 1:18)
Salvation is what the Lord WANTS for us.
(1 Timothy 2:4, Titus 2:11)
But there is a problem with US receiving what God
wants for us. And the problems IS us.
We will take up the problem of us, salvation, our rewards,
and hell, in the coming weeks. Amen
