Kingdom of Light (Luke 4:14-21)
Gary McManus, 01/19/2014Part of the DCC Basics series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
The old year is over, the new year has begun.
There are two parts to the church’s message.
You not only are a new person in Jesus,
but if you fail to live the new life that you have
been given, you get to try again.
In the coming weeks, we will cover some basics.
Jesus first sermon--eight words long! And powerful!
It’s a new age. There will be some changes.
Examples:
Now, here is what Jesus said:
“good news,” “for the poor,”
“freedom for the prisoners,”
Isaiah 61 (which Jesus is quoting says light for
prisoners in darkness [Also see other Isaiah
references (Isaiah 61, Isaiah 42:7, Isaiah 9:2).
A reminder from the national sight loss agency
(NCBI): “ Don’t assume that a person who has enough
vision to do one thing can see enough to do everything.”
Do you have ENOUGH LIGHT?
John 1:9
And how about Luci?
This light could change the world.
Jesus, the light, already IS changing
the world.
In the coming weeks we are going
to talk more about this Light that has come
-- this freedom you have.
-- this release that has been won for you
-- the darkness that in Jesus Christ is now gone
For the light has come. Amen
