Pastor is not the only one with a call from our
Lord Jesus Christ. We are all called by our Lord.
“Call” appears 480 times in God’s Word.
Consider the lives of the disciples;called to follow Jesus.
Called to be Jesus’ disciples; called to be Apostles.
From John MacArthur’s Twelve Ordinary Men.
--several were professional fishermen
--not religious leaders
--from all over the political spectrum
--but mostly unknown
--other surprising truths
Peter’s first recorded words TO Jesus were these:
”Leave me,Lord, because I am a sinner.”(Luke 5:6)
What we know about the disciples; not pretty!
Several places and Mark 10, Matthew 26:56, Mark 14:50. It looked bad.
But we know what happened. . .
Notice that there were several callings all through
the three years that Jesus was with the disciples on earth.
Called first to salvation (Luke 17:20-21)
Called to discipleship (Luke 9:1-2)
These twelve that Jesus selected would be
named Apostles. (Luke 6:12 ff.) Called to
be Apostles.
This has everything to do with you!
Today’s scripture. . .
Jesus CALLS His sheep. That is you and me.
Jesus LEADS us, his sheep.
AND we know that Jesus also SENDS his sheep.
You can’t disqualify yourself from service to Jesus.
Even fallen Pastors, disqualified from the pulpit
are never disqualified from service to Jesus..
Look at the Bible record.
Jesus calls his sheep AND, it says, the sheep know the Shepherds voice.
So, my advice to you is to keep listening.
All we have to do is PAY attention.
Oh, and it would help immensely if you will be obedient to Jesus’ call
Celebrate that the Shepherd calls you by name
And that you hear His voice. Jesus is calling.
