Titus 2:11-14 (p.1182 / p.1201)
It is the OLYMPICS!
The Apostle mentions THE GAMES!
(1 Corinthians 9:25)
“Everyone who competes in the games
goes into strict training. They do it
(go into strict training) to get a crown that
will not last, but we do it (go into strict training)
to get a crown that will last forever.
Ten months of training were required
just to try out at the ancient Olympics!
Today’s Bible verse:
teaching or training?
Last week’s Bible verse, 1 Timothy 4:
8 For physical training is of some value,
but godliness has value for all things. . .
1 Timothy 4:7: TRAIN YOURSELF!
Note 2 Timothy 3:16. . .
All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for. . .
Teaching. . . rebuking. . .correcting. . .
and TRAINING.
In Greek, the ideas of training and education
are linked together. They are also in English
and yet have different meanings.
The Greek word can say either “educated”
or “trained”.
Iin the Bible the word “discipline” means
more like discipline in the family.
It is a corrective. Discipline isn’t something
you possess, discipline is something you
are TRAINED in or trained by.
Does the Apostle want followers of Jesus
who are educated or TRAINED?
What about forgiveness? Learned or practiced?
Love: words OR action?
(Luke 6:27, John 10:34, Matthew 10:19, Mark 13:11,
Luke 12:11, 1 John 3:18)
Romans 12:10
Hebrews 10:24, Hebrews 12:1, 2 Timothy 4:7
The Apostle trained. . .the Apostle ran. .
.the Apostle finished the race.. Amen.
{Enjoy the rest of the Winter Olympics.}
Amen.
