Problems, Problems, Problems (Titus 1:5-16)
Gary McManus, 01/21/2018Part of the Jesus Came to Restore series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
January 21, 2018 Titus 1:5
There is good news in this message today.
But first, we talk about problems.
The letter to Titus. . .
Titus. . .the same Titus?
(Galatians 2:1-10, 2 Corinthians 2:13, 7:6,
7:13-14, 12:17-18, (or Acts 18:7)
in his letters?
Whoever Titus is/was, it is clear
that the Apostle has especially put Titus
in CRETE in order to supervise the Apostle’s
work in Crete in the Apostle’s name.
The problems that Titus had to deal with
are listed in the rest of the letter. . .
Some of the people are “detestable, disobedient,
and unfit for doing anything good.” (!!)
But the Apostle began this letter stating. . .
[I am] a servant and an apostle
TO FURTHER THE FAITH and
KNNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH
in hope of eternal life. . .
WHICH GOD PROMISED
before the beginning of time
AND WHICH is NOW happening
1.God is doing something. . . about those problems
2. God acted long ago to do something. . .
3 God is still doing something. . .
4. And God will someday resolve
ALL of the church’s problems
And Jesus with His bride the church will be victorious
forever and ever Amen.
(Ephesians 5:25 ff., Revelation 21:9-10)
Jesus came saying. . .he came to speak good news,
heal the sick, give sight to the blind, let the lame
walk and to free those who are captive.
(Luke 4:16-21, Isaiah 61)
If anyone asks when is God going to do
something about the problems. . .
the answer is. . .Jesus Christ.
(2 Corinthians 4:6, Ephesians 3:17ff.)
“The church is the hope of the world.”

What is your answer?
Was God doing something to help?
Remember, the early church was not
run by professionals.
Philippians 3:7
The Apostle left Titus in Crete to deal
with problems.
Are you the answer to someone’s prayer?
What does the Bible say?
Are you an answer to the problems?
Amen.
