We’re excited to be able to upload our sermons again. Below you’ll find a comprehensive Sermon Browser. You can search for messages by looking for keywords, scriptures, or by preacher. We’ll warn you though, Pastor Gary has been at DCC for more than 20 years, so you’re probably going to be hard pressed to find much by anyone else. As we record messages, we’ll be posting them here. Don't Miss Christmas Again (Matthew 2:1-6)Gary McManus, December 3, 2017
Part of the Christmas series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
December 3, 2017 Matthew 2:1-6
Don't Miss Christmas AGAIN THIS YEAR!
Operation Christmas child seeks to insure that
Children will not miss Christmas.
What about adults?
Many in this country do not know Jesus.
Pastor doesn’t want ANYONE to miss Christmas.
This season at DCC. . .those who missed Christmas
In the Bible: some of the Jewish priests, some of the
Pharisees, and King Herod.
Also, folks who ALMOST missed Christmas.
Finally, they celebrated Christmas:
Zechariah, John the B aptizer’s father and Joseph,
husband of Mary.
Today, especially Matthew 2:4
Remember, the wise men (magi) are Gentile
They stop at the capital of Judah: Jerusalem.
They go to the palace.
They don’t seem to know anything about any
royal birth. . .anywhere.
Herod and many others were upset.
We can appreciate why.
The priests are a part of Herod’s entourage.
Rather than be chosen as the Bible outlines,
some High Priests are appointed by the King
Contrast the wise magi with the clueless teachers
of the law. Micah 5:2 is key.
Matthew will mention this same Jewish leadership
Group. . .on PALM SUNDAY!
[Matthew 21:15, See Matthew 21:45, and Matthew 26:3.]
Not all Jews opposed Jesus, but Matthew, a Jew,
wants us to notice which Jews DO opposed Jesus.
Today, again, this year. . .many will miss Christmas
just like the Jewish leadership did in Jesus’ day.
Matthew finishes his report on the wise men
in verse 10.this way. . .vs 10-11.
Celebrate this Christmas that the Savior has come.
Celebrate and praise the Lord. Amen.
