Joy in God's Will (Acts 20:22-32)
Gary McManus, 09/22/2013Part of the God's Word is Life series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
God’s Word is helpful. It gives life!
God’s Word helps us help others.
Any other benefits to being in God’s will?
Unless we put God’s Word into action,
God’s Word CANNOT help us much.
God’s Word has to be activated in us.
The church of Jesus is NOT about rules.
Church is about relationships.
Look at our own statements of faith:
Ephesians 4:22-24,Titus 2, Colossians 1:9 ff,
Ephesians 2:4-8, 1 Peter 1:18-21 and more. . .
Jesus in John 10:10, 14:6
The letter to Titus lists those futile ways for us:
Titus 3:3-8 is a heck of a way to go through life.
Life doesn’t have to be that way.
Jesus came to save us from THAT life.
The point is that when we put the Lord Jesus FIRST,
then the inner conflict begins to fade away.
--more freedom, more self-respect,
less stress, more time to live. . . .peace!
We’ll know how to treat others 1 Tim. 5)
What are the benefits for a congregation
that is doing God’s will?
The book of Acts states
(see Acts 6 and Acts 15) when the church
did what the Spirit led the church to do,
the proclamation about God in Christ flourished.
So churches may experience a re-vitalized faith.
They may experience a renewed mission.
The Craft Group ministry has received praise!
NOT that the church will be problem free.
(Today’s Word of God from Acts 20.)
Jesus taught it: (Luke 21:12)
But the benefits of doing God’s will. . .
The benefits of being in God’s will:
. .to walk in the light. . .to walk in truth. . .
to know that the Lord will walk with you. .
.to know that the Lord will lift you up
. . .to know that the Lord will sustain your church. . .
We are being MADE ALIVE. Amen.
