Matthew 7:7-12 (p.961 / p.971)
A blessed Father’s Day to all the dads today!
Father’s Day is rooted in God’s Word and
the Church! (Exodus 20:12, Ephesians 6:2)
Ms. Sonora Louise Smart Dodd of Spokane,
Washington remembered her father, William
Jackson Smart.
People (including the Pastor’s children)
need the Bible and Jesus to help them.
This past week, we as a nation now mourn.
The shooter has a father. Seddique Mateen
believed he provided well for his son, Omar,
the killer. That might not be important.
Jesus said (John 10:8-11) “the thief comes only
to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that
they may have life, and have it to the full.”
There is no explanation for the destruction.
(See Job, chapter 1.)
Our culture and our society WANT
to believe that people are basically good.
That isn’t what the Bible says.
(See Genesis 2:6, 4:8, 6:5ff.)
The Bible makes clear that all of humanity
is capable of committing evil.
Jesus even said that someday humanity will
get just as bad in the future as in the days
of Noah. (Matthew 24:37)
To be a godly father is an uphill battle.
Even if you have BEEN a godly father does
not mean that all the same things will work
today.

Today there is more to worry about but
keep your focus.
There are a lot of dads in the Bible.
Being the better dad depends on how much
you focus on God.
Noah (Genesis 6:9)
Job (Job 1:1, 8)
The words of the prophet Micah (6:8). . .
The Heavenly Father said of his own son:
(Matthew 17:5)
Listen to God’s Son! Amen.
