What, Me Worry?
May 1, 2016 Ascension Sunday
Romans 8:31-39
Next Sunday, May 8th is Mother’s Day Sunday
Jesus’ office is at the right hand of
God the Father Almighty (Mark 16:19, Luke 22:69,
Acts 2:33, Acts 5:31, Acts 7:55, Acts 7:56,
Romans 8:34, 2 Corinthians 6:7, Colossians 3:1,
Hebrews 10:12, Hebrews 12:2, 1 Peter 3:22).
You may find Jesus there.
Alex Korb, The Upward Spiral
Worry may be natural but outdated.
If our brains are programed to worry,
it is tough to just turn it off. The Bible tells us
that God is the only answer to our worries.
[See Psalm 23, Psalm 46:2, Psalm 34:4]
Dr. Korb, neuroscientist, writes:
“The good news is that in complex systems
like the brain, small changes can sometimes
have big effects.”
There is nothing wrong with your brain but
we may be overusing parts of it.
God's Word, faith in Jesus Christ and our
Lord's presence of the Holy Spirit
are here to help your brain.
The Bible says. . .”don't be afraid.”

You’ve Got to Get Out of the Boat.
There are copies in your church library.
Our God does not want us living in fear.
Our God does not want us to live with anxiety.
Our God does not want us to worry.
Now, you may fear God . . .we ARE supposed
to fear the Lord. . .respect / have awe / revere
Being in awe of God is the first step to real peace:
Proverbs 1: The fear of the Lord is the beginning
of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and
instruction. See also Proverbs 3:7, Proverbs 23:17.
Consider the sheep in the valley. (23rd Psalm)

See Matthew 14:22-32
See 2 Corinthians 7:5-6
Psalm 34:4
I sought the Lord, and he answered me;
He delivered me from all my fears.
We so often consult our fears.
But the Bible says don’t do that. . .
Don’t be afraid and DO seek the Lord.
(Matthew 11:28, Matthew 16:24, Hebrews 12:1-2)
If God is for us, who can be against us? . . . Amen
