The Church's Future (Mark 13:31-37)
Gary McManus, 10/25/2015Part of the New Life series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
The church's future
Mark 13:31-37
Today is the last Sunday of our celebration
of 30 years together of ministry.
--not the end of the ministry together
--not the end of Jesus’ ministry.
The mission WILL ONLY be over
when Jesus returns.
What is ahead for DCC and Pastor Gary McManus?
--no one here knows
--our God DOES know
You and Pastor WANT the Lord’s plan to prevail.
Whatever the future holds, God’s will is in our future
and that is a good thing. (That is the BEST thing!)
Book title: There is Hope for Your Church
by Gary L. Mcintosh. Also, Replant by Mark Devine
and Mark Patrick.
“Your church’s bright future starts RIGHT NOW.”
DCC already has a number of blessings and a history
of blessings.
“There are no hopeless situations;
there are only people who are hopeless
ABOUT those situations.” –Clair Booth Luce
I hope you know about Daleville native,
Melvin Biddle. . .
Melvin Biddle would later say,
"I'm not a hero, not at all. When the Army put me
out front, they put the responsibility on me, and
you think about that responsibility instead of the fear."
(USA Today, 1999)
Was Melvin Biddle a victim?
Melvin Biddle became a hero.
How do you see yourselves and your church?
Are we victims?
. . .Or are we chosen?
Our Lord Jesus said, “take MY yoke upon you.”
(Matthew 11:29-30)
Apparently we are JESUS choice for Jesus’ mission
in Daleville, Indiana.
A brief look at the Bible will show that those
who are chosen do not have an easy road:
Joseph ( of the coat of many colors)
King David
Elijah
Jonah
Jeremiah .
Mary and Joseph
We have been chosen and
Pastor believes that we have been PREPARED.
The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness has not overcome it. . .
(John 1:1-14)
He is our future.
In spiritual warfare, no church status
can rescue the situation—no church’s budget,
no church campaign, no church’s bank account
can save a church in spiritual warfare
The hope of the church has never been its present health.
The hope of the church is not its present STANDING.
The hope of the church is always Christ’s resurrection
--John Dickerson
