Jesus Loves Me, This I Know (1 John 3:16-24)

God’s Love; Beyond Belief (Ephesians 3:17-19)
God’s love is about MORE than acceptance
(Galatians 6:15).
When we draw near to God in Jesus Christ,
we are changed. (See Isaiah 6, Revelation)
The bad news: Creation is broken.
Worse news: we can’t fix what we broke.
Out of His love for us, God Himself came in
Jesus to start fixing what we broke.
It is already happening.
Last time, we talked about God’s love,
the Heavenly Father’s love. Today we talk
about Jesus’ OWN love for us.
“Yes, Jesus loves me. . .”
It is a Biblical statement. . It is a Bible statement
Jesus demonstrated this love when he walked the earth.
See Luke 7:12-14, Luke 1:78,
Matthew 15:32, Mark 1:2
So Jesus loves US!
James 5:11: The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
Compassion AND mercy.
See Galatians 2:20, Ephesians 5:2
Jesus loved us and Jesus proved his love
to us by his death and resurrection.
WHY did Jesus die on the cross.
One of the answers is
Jesus died for us because Jesus loves us.
From Dr. David Jeremiah’s book,
God Loves You:
Jesus’ love is written. . .even carved
into his body and still visible in his
resurrected body (John 20:27)
It is “written in red.”
(Song words written by Gordon Jennsen.)
One more thought:
You and I are not only the beneficiaries
of this love.
We are more than recipients of this love.
You and I are called to PARTICIPATE in this love.
[Ephesians 4:32, Colossians 3:12, John 13:34-35
Also: Romans 12:10, Romans 13:8, Galatians 5:13,
Ephesians 4:2, 1 Thessalonians 3:12,

Hebrews 10:24, 1 Peter 1:22, 1 Peter 4:8,
1 John 3:11, 3:23, 4:7, 4:11, 4:12
Love in deed and in truth.
Amen.
